<body><h1>Editing Slides</h1><p>Synology Office provides a variety of tools to edit your slides. Below are the commonly used options, accessible directly from the toolbar:</p><ul> <li>Undo or redo actions</li> <li>Change text font or size</li> <li>Add bold, italic, underline, or strikethrough</li> <li>Change text or background color</li> <li>Align text</li> <li>Create numbered or bulleted lists</li> <li>Modify indent levels</li> <li>Adjust line or paragraph spacing</li></ul><p>Other advanced features for collaborative editing and management are explained in detail in the following sections.</p><h2><a name="viewusers"></a>View Online Users</h2><p>You can see other users viewing or editing the slides in the top-right corner.</p><ul> <li>System users can be identified by username/nickname and profile photo.</li> <li>Guest users are displayed as Guest 1, Guest 2, etc.</li></ul><h4>To locate a user's current cursor position:</h4><ol> <li>Click their account icon in the top-right corner.</li> <li>You'll be directed to their cursor position, marked with their username/nickname and color.</li></ol><h4>To locate a collaborator with their name label displayed:</h4><ul> <li>Go to <strong>Tools</strong> > <strong>Preferences</strong> and select <strong>Show the collaborators currently editing this file</strong>. This briefly displays the name labels and locations of users actively working on the file, such as making edits or copying and pasting.</li></ul><h2><a name="zoom"></a>Zoom In or Out</h2><h4>To adjust the slides view:</h4><p>Do either of the following:</p><ul> <li>Click <strong>100%</strong> in the toolbar and select a zoom rate or enter a value between 20 and 200.</li> <li>Hold <strong>Ctrl</strong> and scroll with your mouse wheel.</li></ul><h4>To save your zoom settings:</h4><ol> <li>Click <strong>100%</strong> in the toolbar.</li> <li>Select <strong>Remember my settings</strong>.</li></ol><h2><a name="organize"></a>Organize Slides</h2><h4>To insert a slide:</h4><p>Do either of the following:</p><ul> <li>Click the <strong>+</strong> button on the toolbar, or click the arrow next to it and choose a layout.</li> <li>Right-click in the left preview bar and select <strong>New slide</strong> or <strong>New slide layout</strong>.</li></ul><h4>To reorder slides:</h4><ol> <li> Click and hold a slide in the left preview bar. You can also select multiple slides. <ul> <li> To select multiple slides: <ul> <li>Select consecutive slides by holding <strong>Shift</strong> and clicking the last slide.</li> <li>Select non-consecutive slides by holding <strong>Ctrl</strong> (Windows) or <strong>Cmd</strong> (Mac) and clicking each slide.</li> </ul> </li> </ul> </li> <li>Drag and drop the selection to the desired location in the left preview bar.</li></ol><h4>To organize your slides into sections:</h4><ol> <li>Right-click in the left preview bar and select <strong>Add section</strong>.</li> <li>Enter a name. To collapse the section, click the triangle next to the section name.</li></ol><h4>To reorder sections:</h4><p>Do either of the following:</p><ul> <li>Click and hold the name of the section, then drag-and-drop it to the desired location.</li> <li>Right-click the section name and select to move it up or down.</li></ul><h4>To remove sections:</h4><ul> <li>Right-click the section name and select to remove the section or remove it and also the slides under it.</li></ul><h4>To use the object options on a slide:</h4><ol> <li>Hold the <strong>Shift</strong> key on your keyboard and select an object or multiple objects.</li> <li> Choose from the following options in <strong>Object</strong> menu: <ul> <li><strong>Group</strong>: Combine multiple objects for easier movement and formatting.</li> <li><strong>Ungroup</strong>: Separate grouped objects.</li> <li><strong>Order</strong>: Place objects in front of or behind text, images, or other objects.</li> <li><strong>Rotate</strong>: Change object orientation.</li> <li><strong>Align</strong>: Align edges of selected objects.</li> <li><strong>Center on page</strong>: Center objects vertically or horizontally.</li> <li><strong>Distribute</strong>: Evenly space three or more objects.</li> </ul> </li></ol><h4>To change background colors:</h4><ol> <li>Choose a slide and click <strong>Slide</strong> > <strong>Change background</strong>.</li> <li>Select to fill with color or image.</li> <li>Apply the background style to all slides.</li> <li>You can click <strong>Reset to theme</strong> to revert to default.</li></ol><h4>To change themes:</h4><ol> <li>Click <strong>Slide</strong> > <strong>Theme</strong>.</li> <li>Choose the desired theme style.</li></ol><h2><a name="gridline"></a>Use Gridlines</h2><h4>To display gridlines:</h4><ul> <li>Click <strong>View</strong> > <strong>Gridline</strong> > <strong>Show gridline</strong>.</li></ul><h4>To snap an object to gridlines:</h4><ol> <li>Ensure <strong>Show gridline</strong> is enabled.</li> <li>Click <strong>View</strong> > <strong>Gridline</strong> > <strong>Snap to gridline</strong>.</li></ol><h2><a name="slidemaster"></a>Use Slide Master</h2><p>Edit the slide master to make changes across all slides.</p><ol> <li>Click <strong>Slide</strong> ><strong>Slide master</strong>.</li> <li>The page will switch to the master template editor.</li> <li>Select the top slide in the left preview bar to edit the master slide.</li> <li>Make the desired changes.</li> <li>Close the master editor by clicking the <strong>X</strong> at the top-right.</li></ol><h4>To customize specific slides:</h4><ol> <li>Open the master editor and select a layout in the left preview bar.</li> <li>Move, modify, add, or delete objects as desired.</li> <li>Close the master editor by clicking the <strong>X</strong> at the top-right.</li></ol><div class="section"> <h4>Note:</h4> <ul> <li>Modifications made to themes will also be applied to slide masters.</li> </ul></div><h4>To import themes:</h4><ol> <li>Click <strong>Slide</strong> > <strong>Import Theme</strong>.</li> <li>Select a theme and click <strong>OK</strong>.</li> <li>Preview the layout and click <strong>Import Theme</strong>.</li></ol><h2><a name="playslides"></a>Play Slides</h2><h4>To play slides in full screen:</h4><ol> <li>Click the <strong>Play slides</strong> button in the top-right menu bar.</li> <li>Use the left or right arrow keys or the on-screen arrows to navigate.</li> <li>Press <strong>Esc</strong> to exit full screen.</li></ol><h4>To view speaker notes:</h4><ol> <li>Click the <strong>Show notes</strong> button in the top-right menu bar.</li> <li> Use the speaker window to: <ul> <li>View the current and next slides.</li> <li>Check and pause the timer.</li> <li>Adjust speaker note text size.</li> </ul> </li></ol><h4>Other presentation tools:</h4><ul> <li><strong>Switch to</strong>: Jump to a specific slide.</li> <li><strong>Pen</strong>: Draw on slides while presenting.</li> <li><strong>Highlighter</strong>: Highlight key points.</li> <li><strong>Laser pointer</strong>: Point to specific area in a slide.</li> <li><strong>Eraser tool</strong>: Remove pen or highlighter marks.</li></ul><h2><a name="preferences"></a>Preferences</h2><p>In <strong>Tools</strong> > <strong>Preferences</strong>, select to enable the following options:</p><ul> <li><strong>Use smart quotes</strong>: Converts straight quotation marks to corresponding curly ones for your locale.</li> <li><strong>Automatically detect links</strong>: Converts URLs and email addresses into clickable links.</li> <li><strong>Automatically detect lists</strong>: Converts list items into bulleted or numbered lists as you type.</li> <li><strong>Automatically detect Markdown</strong>: Converts Markdown into styled text as you edit.</li> <li><a name="collaborators"></a><strong>Show the collaborators currently editing this file</strong>: This briefly displays the name labels and locations of users actively working on the file, such as making edits or copying and pasting.</li> <li><strong>Enable AI Assistant</strong>: Use AI to draft, refine, or translate the entire slides.<ul><li><strong>Show the AI button</strong>: This briefly displays the AI quick-access button when text is selected.</li></ul></li></ul><p>Using Markdown, you can swiftly create various formatting elements, such as different headings, italics, bold, or strikethrough.
